LET’S HAVE A CONVERSATION

So to get to the big question if our products are for you,

Let us first ask you some questions.

Do you prioritize your health?

Would you rather be stronger or weaker?
Would you rather be mobile or immobile?
Would you rather have natural posture or artificial posture?
Would you rather be balanced or imbalanced?
Would you rather be aligned or misaligned?

Would you like bunions with that?

If you have had pain and bad feet in the past, it’s not your fault. For decades, we have been misguided to believe that we need narrow, stiff, cushioned, and heel elevated footwear in order to walk. In truth, our beautiful feet have been perfectly engineered since the dawn of time to have sensory receptors to feel the earth and have more than enough strength to walk and explore for miles.

Let’s be honest, modern comforts have removed the need for us to be as mobile and active as our ancestors were. We have conditioned our bodies to become more sedentary and disconnected from nature. In life, challenges will stimulate growth. The same applies to muscles as our body requires resistance training and weight bearing movements in order to develop.

While there are moments in the rehab process when we do need to be protective during acute situations, we need to distinguish between babying and growing. Imagine wearing an arm sling for your entire life. The muscles in our arm would never get stronger as we would take away the ability to perform simple everyday tasks such as pushing a door open or lifting up a grocery bag. By selecting traditional shoes as our everyday footwear, we are choosing to carry out the same act of deprivation to our toes and feet.

Most modern shoes add an incline to the heel so that the heel and toes are not on the same plane. This changes your natural rate of loading and where force is distributed when your foot makes contact. Mainstream marketing advertises this as helping you propel forward faster. In reality, this messes with your natural upright posture. Whether having a neutral arch, high arch or flat arch, standing for an extended period of time on any incline will shorten the posterior muscles leading to tightness in the calves, hamstrings, and low back.

Like plants needing light, we need to return to nature. Whether stairs, hills, valleys or meadows, the human body wants to explore and overcome obstacles that it faces to see what it is capable of achieving. Our ability to walk often goes unappreciated. Not only do we take it for granted as an underutilized form of exercise, but also as an opportunity to be outdoors. To be outdoors to examine our own thoughts for clarity. To be outdoors to carry out conversations and social interactions with the people we care about. Walking correctly with healthy aligned feet contributes greatly to physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health.
